Connector agents

Some systems live on your own network and cannot be reached from the internet: Active Directory, a local SIS database, printers over SNMP. An agent runs on a server inside your network and connects those to Plugboard. It dials out only, so there is no firewall rule to open.

Credentials for those systems stay on your server. Plugboard never receives them.

Install an agent

  1. 1. Download the agent for your server from the releases page. Windows, Linux and macOS are supported.
  2. 2. Create an agent below and copy its token.
  3. 3. Put the token in agent.env beside the agent, along with this address:
PLUGBOARD_URL=https://your-plugboard-address
AGENT_TOKEN=pba_...

4. Install it as a service so it survives a reboot: plugboard-agent install-service

Sites

One site per network. If your campuses are on separate networks they each need their own agent, because a lookup has to run somewhere that can actually reach the system.

Each agent is watched on the monitor page automatically. If one stops reporting, everyone with permission to see monitors is alerted, the same as any other outage.
